When God spoke to Moses in Exodus 6:2-3, he said “I AM Yahweh”. It’s somewhat redundant in English because, in Hebrew, YHWH is translated “I AM”. What God was saying was, “I AM THE I AM”. YHWH is the Hebrew spelling of what was eventually translated “Lord” or “Jehovah”. YHWH appears almost 7,000 times in Scripture and Jesus refers to himself as YHWH several times in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. (Matt. 14:27, Mark 6:50, Luke 21:8, John 6:20…to list a few)
